Izzy Scenes - Finished scenes from the BYU student film "Izzy". I was the modeling and set-dressing lead. I also was involved with texturing, surfacing, lighting, rendering, and pipeline.

Robot- Character modeled, rigged, and animated.

Rabbit Model - Relative low-poly model for simulated "stampede" scene.

Bush Model - Model/Demonstration for look/dev for "Izzy."

Wall Texture - Interior surfacing/texture for an indoor cage for "Izzy." The scene was scrapped before completion.

Dragonfly - Model, texture, lighting and compositing. My first foray into Maya.

Soft Organic Skin - Surfacing test.

Tutu Model - Modeled for a dream scene in "Izzy."

Hamster Wheel - Model for the same dream scene.

All of this work, unless otherwise specified was done in MAYA 2009 and 2010. I use Photoshop CS3 and slim for textures.

Izzy Videos

Got around to putting the image sequences into videos.

I want to remind you that these videos were part of a student film. The level of quality is indicative of a collaboration of students. I was the modeling and set dressing lead on this film. Every model and set had to be passed through me before going into the film.

For some reason the third video won't upload. I'll try vimeo or something.

update: video fps is slightly too high. reposting to fix this as soon as I can render it in After Effects.

Still sketching and learning...

Attempt at a Klimpt emulation. Successful in my opinion, seeing as the fish started out as a doodle of an eyeball.

I've been working in a project for cghub.com's "Warrior's Challenge" which I will post later, but for now I wanted to share a WIP of a quick sketch digital paint. I'm trying to learn better painting techniques.

Final Shots

These are the three shots for Izzy. I was modeling lead for this film.

I modeled the:
-Terrain
-Pathway
-Fence Posts
-One Tree
-One Bush

I also textured the pathway, and created the grass for both the bottom scenes. I edited and fixed lighting and rendering errors. These shots are all 99% done, and will very shortly be fully complete.

Previous work. Fall 2009 & Winter 2010 Semesters

I fall behind on posting what I am working on. So here are some older images with quick descriptions. All from the beginning of Fall 2009 semester to current (end of feb 2010).

These tests were to determine the look for our grass. We wanted to know what worked, and what didn't. There were also render tests, to determine shadows, size, and what effect the camera has on moving, etc. This bottom render here used the default Maya renderer, but the rest were rendered with renderman.

This is an example of the bush models we created. Through houdini we were able to populate the exterior with simple geometry for leaves. There is a difference between trees and bushes. I added the most recent render in to show a contextual shot that consists of bushes, trees, and the grass. I am also doing all the pathways and ground planes (grass) in the film.

I did the set dressing for this shot as well. This means setting up the scene so that it works compositionally, and makes sense through the camera. It is also referencing and correctly placing all the model files.
