These tests were to determine the look for our grass. We wanted to know what worked, and what didn't. There were also render tests, to determine shadows, size, and what effect the camera has on moving, etc. This bottom render here used the default Maya renderer, but the rest were rendered with renderman.
This is an example of the bush models we created. Through houdini we were able to populate the exterior with simple geometry for leaves. There is a difference between trees and bushes. I added the most recent render in to show a contextual shot that consists of bushes, trees, and the grass. I am also doing all the pathways and ground planes (grass) in the film.
I did the set dressing for this shot as well. This means setting up the scene so that it works compositionally, and makes sense through the camera. It is also referencing and correctly placing all the model files.
